Emphasis is placed on working with the nervous system, where adults and children can reduce stress and ease chronic pain through repatterning the brain using somatic Movement.
Becoming aware of your felt self is a great resource for change. When you learn to become more aware of yourself through movement you can let your body’s inner wisdom guide you to make wiser choices. Monja Boonzaier from Beautiful Mind says; I have learnt that stress switches one into automatic pilot mode (sympathetic state/Fight and flight) and then it is not easy to slow down, most of us only know how to push ourselves to our absolute limit. It is very difficult to get out of this place as it is not easy to shift learnt behavioral patterns. When we can learn to move and pay attention to ourselves it brings us into a calm state. When our system produces serotonin, oxytocin (feel good hormones) and melatonin (sleep hormone) which puts us into a calm state (Parasympathetic nervous system) and when we are calm our body and mind can reconnect.
